How To Follow Female Cage Fighting
Learning how to follow female cage fighting might be something that all but the most hardcore MMA fans have overlooked. Female cage fighting is a very new addition to the MMA family, which in itself is still a relatively new sport when compared to the other established sports in America. This makes it harder to follow since there are fewer fighters and fewer leagues that cater to female fighters. Still, it isn't impossible to follow female cage fighting and you can be easily rewarded with some great battles between the fairer sex.
Things you'll need:
- Internet access
- Local MMA leagues
- Research. There are many female cage fighters in the world, although far fewer when compared to males. An easy way to follow cage fighting is to follow the careers of female fighters you like. Researching online what some of the top fighters in the world of that gender are can help open up new avenues for you to view female cage fighting. For example, Gina Carano, Kelly Kobold, Tara LaRosa and Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos are all great fighters at the top for you to start following.
- YouTube. After finding some fighters you identify with or want to follow, taking to the internet and the many video sharing sites will make it easier for you to follow them. Many female fights happen on the undercard of larger fights for MMA leagues across the country. Since they are undercard bouts, they are usually made available online or for download without any fear of copyright infringement or penalty. The UFC, for example, routinely makes undercard fights available online or (at least) doesn't pursue DMC notices for them on most video sharing sites.
- In person. As mentioned, while there are no dedicated women's cage fighting leagues, many leagues will showcase women athletes earlier on in their cards. Find local MMA leagues in your area and keep updated on what they are doing and where they fight. It is more likely than you may think that you will get to experience female cage fighting first hand through one of these leagues.
