So, you want to know how to get an accounting degree? Obtaining an accounting degree is very possible if you like working with numbers. You will be preparing financial statements, filing returns and providing basic accounting services to business owners and companies.

  1. Start out by reading and studying how to get an accounting degree. Make sure you graduate from high school or obtain a General Equivalency Diploma to improve your chances of getting a degree in accounting. Study for the SAT or ACT college admissions test and try to get a high score. Keep in mind that most accounting degree programs will have different admission requirements.
  2. Select a two-year college to keep your expenses low as you try to get your accounting degree. Call the admissions officer at a two-year college accounting degree program that you are interested in applying for and find out what are all the requirements for admission. Consider trying to get your accounting degree online as an option and follow the advice of the admission officer. Get to know your accounting advisor and let him help you get your accounting degree.
  3. Complete all the coursework requirements with at least a 2.5 grade point average to get your accounting degree at the two-year college. Apply to a four-year college accounting degree program and upon acceptance, transfer as many credits from the two-year college program as you can. Pass all the classes at the four-year college in about two years to help reduce your tuition costs and you now have two college degrees in accounting.
