How To Get Fiberglass Out Of Skin

Knowing how to get fiberglass out of skin is a difficult method to perform. Fiberglass is hard to see with the naked eye because of its thinness. Fiberglass immediately becomes embedded into the pores of the skin, so irritation will begin before the wound is noticeable to the naked eye. Here a few removal methods to try if fiberglass ever gets into your skin.

Things you'll need:

  • Duct tape
  • Epsom salt
  • Nylon stockings
  1. The use of duct tape has been known to work when removing fiberglass from the skin. Make sure you do not press down hard on the tape because this action can cause the fiberglass to go even deeper into the pores of the skin. Once the duct tape has been placed on the skin, remove the tape from the affected area in one moment; the fiberglass should be attached to the tape though you may not see it. With duct tape as the removal tool for this project, it is best to remember that the tape will also remove any hair, so be cautious where the tape will be used.
  2. When it is not possible to use duct tape, Epsom salt is another method to remove fiberglass from the skin. Pour one cup of Epsom salt into boiling water and let the crystals dissolve. Once the salt has dissolved, pour the water into bath water and soak the affected area for at least 30 minutes. The soaking will cause the fiberglass to leave the pores of your skin. After soaking lightly, gently remove the fiberglass by just rinsing the affected area with cool water.
  3. Taking a steamy bath with a nylon stocking will easily remove the fiberglass. The steamy bath will open your pores, causing the fiberglass to dislodge itself from your skin. Once your pores are opened, use a nylon stocking and gently rub the affected area. This motion will cause the fiberglass to attach itself to the nylon.

Remember to be cautious when handling objects made of fiberglass because it can easily get into the pores and cause irritation. Removing fiberglass from the skin is not an easy task but using one these many methods will do the trick. Though there are several methods for removing fiberglass from the skin, nothing will stop the irritation it causes.
