If you are a talented tennis player you may be wondering how to get on the major league pro circuit? You must have success at the amateur level before you can attempt to join the major league pro circuit. In most cases you will have work with a coach for months if not years before you are ready to turn pro. You have to be willing to practice long hours each day, and dedicate yourself to maintaining a proper diet and off-court fitness routine. Once you have some success on the amateur level, you can try to play your way into the pros.

  1. Find the right coach for you. This is the most critical part of trying to get on the major league pro circuit. A good coach will know the proper steps you should take to make it as a pro. He will design a program to accelerate your progress, and provide psychological training to get you ready for the next level.
  2. Start to play in amateur tournaments. The amateur level is highly competitive, so you will have to be on top of your game if you want to advance past this level to the major league pro circuit. Play in United States Tennis Association (USTA) sanctioned tournaments, and continue to work with your coach to improve on any weaknesses he sees in your game.
  3. Once you have some success, you will be invited to USTA pro qualifying events. To get on the major league pro circuit, you will have to perform well enough at the qualifiers to earn enough points for a pro invitation. Once you start having some solid results, ask your coach if he thinks you are ready for the major league pro circuit. If he thinks you are, work hard to improve and enter the first available qualifying tournament.
  4. Play your way onto the pro circuit. You have worked hard and now have the chance to make it as a pro. Do well enough at the USTA pro qualifiers and you will eventually receive a ranking that allows you to play at many pro tournaments around the world.
