In order to install the emulators, you must first jailbreak your iPhone. Follow these steps to jailbreak your phone and get NES ROMS on your iPod Touch.
To get NES ROMS on your iPod Touch, you will need:
- iPod Touch
- USB connection cord
- Internet connection
- FTP client
- Download the iPod Touch 1.1.1 firmware. You can find this on the Apple website.
- Hook your iPhone Touch to the USB 30-pin connector. Connect the USB cable to an empty USB port on your computer.
Update your iPhone Touch with the 1.1.1 firmware that you downloaded. Double-click on the installation file and wait for your computer to update the iPod automatically. Unhook your iPod.
Visit the jailbreak app website on your iPhone (http://jailbreakme.com). Locate the "Install AppSnapp" link and click on it. Click the "Install" button the next page as well.
- Select "all packages" and place a checkmark next to "openssh," "bsd system" and "launcher." Click "Install" to complete the jailbreak procedure.
- Restart your iPhone then click the "Installer" on your iPhone home page. Click the "Games" folder and then locate the "NES" package. Click on it to activate the NES emulator.
Connect the iPod back to the computer. Log into the system files of your iPod using an FTP client. Input "root" as the username and "alpine" as the password (without quotes and in lower case).
Make a new folder within the "Media" folder on the iPod Touch. Name it "ROMs" (without quotes and following this exact case). Create another new folder within that folder and name it "NES" (without quotes).
Download any NES ROM that you want to play on your computer. Unzip the downloaded zipped ROM and upload it to the "NES" folder using the FTP client.
Unplug your iPhone Touch. Click on the "NES" link on your iPhone home screen and select the ROM that you want to play from the list.
