Most nurses work in a hospital setting and they have acquired the training and gained the educational skills needed to become a nurse. There will always be a high demand for the nurse professional and the pay is competitive in the market place. As a nurse, you will be working under the supervision of a nurse manager or a physician and you will be treating patients to improve their overall health.
- Start out by studying and reading books and publications about how to get a nursing degree. Graduate from high school or obtain a GED to improve your chances of getting a nursing degree. Study for the SAT or ACT college admissions test and try to get a high score. Keep in mind that most nursing degree programs will have different admission requirements.
- Select a two-year college to keep your expenses low as you try to get your nursing degree. Call the admissions officer at a two-year college nursing degree program that you are interested in applying for and find out what are all the requirements for admission. Consider trying to get your two-year nursing degree online as an option if you have other family and personal obligations.
- Visit or call your local hospitals and medical facilities in your area and ask to speak to nurse recruiter(s) or human resources director(s) to see which type of nurses are needed. Fill out the application for acceptance in to an accredited nursing program with the assistance of the nurse recruiter(s) or the human resources director(s). Get accepted in to the nursing degree program and listen to the college nurse advisor and ask her questions about how to get your nursing degree. Complete all the coursework requirements with at least a 2.0 grade point average and you have now graduated from college with a two-year nursing degree.
