  1. Store you leather jacket in a cool dry place to eliminate odors. Preventing odors can be done by properly storing your leather jacket. Most odors come from mold and mildew that breed in moisture and heat. These two bacteria love leather. Keep your leather jacket in a garment bag when you are not wearing it. Your closet should be cool and dry enough to keep the odors away.
  2. Clean your leather jacket to remove odors. White vinegar will get the odors out of your leather jacket. Take a damp cloth and put some white vinegar on it. You simply wipe the jacket clean, making sure to cover all areas. Dry the vinegar off with a clean dry cloth. This will for sure get any odor out of your leather jacket.
  3. Condition you leather jacket. Any time you clean leather, you have to condition the material. Cleaning your leather jacket will dry it out, so make sure to do this step. You can purchase leather conditioner at any store that sells leather for a very low price. Make sure to read the directions carefully when applying the leather conditioner. Leather conditioner will also give a protective barrier to your leather jacket that will keep it from getting any more odors as easily.
  4. Store your leather jacket with an air freshener to get the odors out. Another way to get the odors out of your leather jacket is by putting it in an air tight bin with an air freshener. If the odor isn't too pungent, this may work all on its own. Lay the leather jacket flat in a bin and place a box of opened baking soda in with it. Dryer sheets work really well also. Give it a couple of days and when you take your jacket out, it should smell fresh and the odors will be gone.
