Need to know how to get out of a bad relationship? If you are unhappy with your current partner, or you think that you two no longer share the love that once held you together, you may want to know how to end a relationship that prevents you, and maybe also your partner, from living a more satisfying life.

  1. Identify the problem. There are plenty of reasons why your relationship may not work out. To get out of a bad relationship and make sure that the problem will not return in the future, you must identify what is wrong. Rational reasons to break up include blatant incompatibility, infidelity and the lack of personal development outside the relationship.
  2. Communication. Make sure that you and your partner are on the same page when you attempt to end a bad relationship. It is not fair to break up with her without telling her the reason why. If you don't think your partner is able to improve the relationship, then maybe it's time to get out.
  3. Be direct. Don't beat around the bush and expect your partner to understand that you want to break up with her. If you have already made up your mind that this is a bad relationship and you want to get out, be direct with your partner and let her know that you are not going to stick around any longer.
  4. Don't be unnecessarily hurtful. It is inevitable that you and your partner will become emotional during the final talk. However, even when you are trying to end a bad relationship, you should not say any hurtful things that will harm your partner even more. Keep the conversational relevant and rational; this is not a time to accuse each other of past mistakes.
  5. Stay out. Once you get out of a bad relationship, do not try to reconnect with your ex immediately. This may give her a false hope that you want to revive the relationship.

Now that you have a general guide to help you get out of a relationship that has gone bad, you can begin evaluating whether you really want to take the final step.
