Knowing how to get into the porn business is not easy since there is no set way to go about this. Some of todays porn stars got involved in the business just because they were in the right place at the right time. Whether you want to become an amateur porn actor or a professional porn actor, there are several steps you can take to get closer to being successful.

1. Think hard about your decision to go into the porn business. One you are in the porn industry it is very hard to get out of it and pursue another career, whether it is in the entertainment industry or not. Images last forever and can always come back to haunt you. Don't just think of what you want to do right now, but also consider the effects it will have on your family, friends and any future plans you may have.
2. Meet the age requirements for the location you plan on working in. Working in the porn industry when you are underage is illegal. In the United States you will have to be at least eighteen years of age.
3. Take care of your appearance since it is the first thing that will be noticed. Women more so than men have to make sure they look good and pleasing to the eye. Hair, nails, skin and private areas need to be fully groomed. Good hygiene, overall body shape and proportions, are all factors that come into play when trying to get into the porn business. Men are judged more on their performance than but that doesn't mean they should slack on taking care of their physical appearance.
4. Take acting classes in your local neighborhood. Since women are able to fake their performances on screen, they might benefit from taking some general acting classes. Men have it harder and cannot fake their performance.
5. Find a professional photographer to take some head shots and full body shots. Your photos act as your business card in the entertainment industry. They will also help you find representation.
6. Contact some agents or studios that specialize in the adult entertainment industry. An agent can help you get into the porn business by submitting you for auditions for adult films. An agent should not require any payment from you up front and should also be aware of what you are and are not willing to do on film.
7. Avoid the Casting Couch. The adult entertainment industry is a business, and just like any other business the goal is to make money. When trying to get into the porn business, you may come across a producer or director that requires you to have sex with him/her in order to get the part. If this happens, it's best to walk the other way to avoid getting labeled.
8. Provide all the paperwork required when booking a part. Before filming starts, you will be asked to show two forms of photo identification. You will also need to show your STD test results to proof that you don't have any sexually transmitted diseases. 
9. Get tested for STD's every 30 days.  Once you get into the porn industry, and start working regularly, you have to make sure your STD test paperwork is kept current. Also, make sure to see your scene partner's current test results.
