Learn how to get rid of acne in one night, so you can put your best face forward. Pimples are an embarrassing dilemma for teenagers and adults. Following a step by step routine can illuminate blemishes and prevent future acne from appearing.

To get rid of acne over night, you’ll need:

  • mild soap
  • cold water
  • acne medication
  • moisturizer
  1. Wash Your Face. When trying to get rid of acne, washing your face is the most important step. Choose a mild soap that is for sensitive skin and fragrance free. Some bar body soaps can be used on the face, but a cream cleanser is best for combination skin. Use cold water to wash your face. This will keep pores tight, preventing bacteria from entering. Pat your face dry instead of rubbing. Rubbing tears the flesh, causing damage.
  2. Apply Acne Medication. Choose an acne medication containing either Benzoyl Peroxide, or Salycic Acid, to get rid of acne. When using a cream, apply small amounts to individual pimples to avoid the product from drying and flaking before it has the opportunity to soak into the skin. Gel products can be used liberally. To get rid of acne overnight, apply before bed.
  3. Apply Moisturizer. Dry skin produces extra oil, causing more pimples to develop.  To get rid of acne, use moisturizer daily.  Apply moisturizer conservatively, voiding the sensitive area around the eyes. Use moisturizer twice daily, after medication has been applied. If skin is still dry, dab extra moisturizer. It’s always easier to add more than to take away, so avoid overzealous applications.
  4. Things to Avoid. When attempting to get rid of acne, it’s important to remember not to pick at skin and pop pimples. Touching your face spreads bacteria and oil from your hands, so keep your fingers away from acne prone skin.
