Clean your face twice a day with a gentle cleanser. Use warm water as hot water can dry out your skin and actually cause more acne on your chin. Use a clean washcloth to pat dry. Tone your face with a non-drying toner like witch hazel or rose water.
Nourish your face with an oil-free moisturizer every morning and night to combat acne on your chin. Be sure to do this immediately after toning your face. Start at the base of your neck with an upward sweeping motion, and continue onto your face.
Dab a small amount of salicylic acid onto the acne on your chin. A small amount goes a long way as the ingredients are very powerful and exfoliating. Salicylic acid can be used nightly as long as drying does not occur.
Keep your fingers and hair away from your face as the dirt, oil and bacteria can cause acne on your chin. If your hair is long, put it in a ponytail holder or in a clip to keep it off your face. Break the habit of resting your chin in your hands which many people do inadvertently.
- If your skin becomes dry and flaky while using salicylic acid, reduce the frequency to every other night or every two nights.
- Do not squeeze any pimples as this could lead to an infection and cause more acne on your chin.
- See a dermatologist if your symptoms worsen or do not improve within 10 days.
