There are many things you can do to get rid of moles in the yard. Moles are small creatures that can be a huge pest to a homeowner. They dig underground, making heaps of dirt rise to the surface called molehills. They also make long tracks in the ground raising up the soil. Moles live underground and have large appetites, eating worms, grubs, ants and beetles. They can cover much ground in a short time and be very destructive to a lawn. Getting rid of moles in the yard can be a challenge with not knowing where they are going to be moving next. A good place to start is by looking where the soil has been raised so you will know where they have been.

  1. Use a mole trap. A mole trap can help get rid of moles in the yard. These traps are raised up and set over the molehill or tunnel and when motion is detected in the ground the mole trap will release down into the soil trapping and killing the mole. They work very well and are a useful tool for getting rid of moles in the yard. Using a mole trap is known to be a dependable way of ridding your yard of moles.
  2. Mole pellets are another way to get rid of moles in the yard. You make a small hole in top of the molehill and drop a few pellets down inside. These pellets are poison but are desired by moles. When the mole eats the pellets, it will kill the mole. If you have animals around your home such as squirrels, cats and other types of animals that could dig these pellets up, it is advisable to use another method to get rid of moles in the yard.
  3. Stand and watch for soil movements. If you have the time and patience this is one way, you can get rid of moles in the yard. Moles can dig any time of the day so you must be around to see movement in the ground to trap and dispose of a mole this way.
