Whether you’re a man or a woman you will want to know how to get rid of red bumps after shaving. The red bumps are minor skin irritations that are also know as razor burn. Although, the obvious answer would be to prevent the red bumps after shaving, there are a few things you can try to get rid of them.

To get rid of red bumps after shaving, you will need:

  • A sharp razor
  • Aloe Vera
  • Tea tree oil
  1. Prevent future irritation. The first step to help get rid of red bumps after shaving is to prevent further irritation. Use a gently exfoliant before shaving. This will remove dead skin cells and allow for a cleaner shave. Use a moisturizing shaving gel to moisturize and prepare the area for shaving. Avoid shaving the area or use a new razor with a guard. Using a dull or old razor can drag across the skin and be irritating to the area. It can also harbor bacteria which will prevent the healing of the red bumps and possibly cause an infection.
  2. Treat the area of irritation with a soothing Aloe Vera gel or lotion. Aloe Vera has great healing properties that will help with the inflammation and red bumps caused by shaving.  The Aloe Vera will also cool the area with the red bumps.
  3. Avoid fragranced after shaves or body sprays. Fragranced after shaves are irritating to the skin.
  4. Prevention. To prevent red bumps in the future, always use a sharp razor. Never shave against the hair growth pattern. Use a moisturizer after shaving.
