Many stylish ethnic men wonder how to get waves in their hair. This short and chic hairstyle looks great on the well-groomed male. The waves in this style make a unique pattern around the head using only a few products. Continue reading to learn the whole process.

To get waves, you will need:

  • Shampoo
  • Hair grease or pomade
  • Soft boar bristle brush
  • Wave cap
  1. Clean coif. Start the process by washing your hair with shampoo and rinse it out well. Clean hair will help the hair get a nice wave pattern.
  2. Slick it. Retrieve about a half-dollar size amount of grease on your hand to apply all over the hair. Be sure to place on the sides and top of the head for the achieving waves task.
  3. Brush properly. Start at the crown and brush hair down and slightly curved direction. Brushing is the most important part of  getting waves in hair.
  4. Frequency of strokes. Brush hair multiple times all around the head continuing the down and curved strokes. Do not forget the side and back part of the head while continuing the hair waves task.
  5. Stop brushing. You will know when to stop brushing when the desired wave pattern is achieved. This varies due to the desired outcome, type of hair and length.
  6. Wrap it up. Place wave cap on head and wear when sleeping or at home. The wave cap will help to maintain the waves that were just created. The caps are not meant to be worn in public.
