If you are an avid skateboarder then your probably already have the tools you need to grease bearings on a skateboard. Bearings are the key element to wheel movement. Properly greased bearing will allow the wheels to turn with ease. Follow this simple steps to learn the proper technique to greasing skateboard wheel bearings.

Skateboarding is a popular sport. The gear isn’t all that expensive but learning basic maintenance ideas is beneficial. This article will introduce you to one of the “at home” maintenance you can do on your skateboard to prolong its life and save money.

What you will need for this:

  • Skateboard
  • Skateboard tool
  • Wheel bearings
  • Paper towel x 2
  • Grease

How to grease skateboard wheel bearings:

  1. Place the skateboard on a flat surface deck down. Using the skateboard tool remove the wheels in the front and then the back. Set the wheels down. Use one of the paper towels to wipe down the bearing (they are situated inside each wheel).
  2. After you have wiped down the bearings, take the second paper towel and put grease on it. Liberally place grease on the bearing, on both sides. Replace the wheels on the trucks and using the skateboard tool, secure them. Spin the wheels to ensure they are free of obstruction.
