How To Handle Irregular Bowel Movements
Knowing how to handle irregular bowel movements can be a great way to avoid those embarrassing and ultimately unhealthy episodes. There are many reasons that one could be experiencing irregular bowel movements, so there is no universal factor that links them all. This means there is seldom a singular solution to irregular bowel movements as a whole. This being the case, you simply must know how to deal with them on a universal scale.
- The first thing to do when you realize that your bowel movements are irregular is to measure the intensity of the bowel movement. If the bowel movement is still bearable and not too liquid based, that may simply mean that you have recently consumed some product that may not have been good. This is commonly known as food poisoning. If this is the case, it should pass within several hours. If the issue persists, proceed to the next steps.
- The next thing to do is to flush out your system. Spend around five to eight hours consuming nothing but water. This will flush anything toxic or harmful out of your system which can then result in the problem passing. Anything causing irregularity is most likely something that can be flushed out.
- If flushing the system does not work, try using a seltzer. These are chemicals that are meant to stimulate the system. Take one per hour for two to three hours. Keep in mind that this may cause a fairly good deal of flatulence, but this is natural.
- If none of the above work, you may have a fiber deficiency, so the next step would be to ramp up your intake of fiber. This can be accomplished by consuming a sizable amount of flax seed. Doing this will help your system get to the regular level and help stop irregularity in your bowels.
If not of these things work, you may need to consult a physician because you may have early signs of internal bleeding or cancer in the bladder or bowels. However, this only occurs in a fraction of the cases of irregular bowel movements.
