Are trying to get some more storage space and want to know how to hang shelves? Hanging selves is a good storage and space saver in your home, no matter if it is in your home office or living room. Hanging shelves is easy to do and doesn't take much time. Follow these steps to learn how to hang selves perfectly on your wall.
To hang shelves, you need:
- new shelf
- drill bits
- screwdriver set
- power drill
- tape measure
- stud finder (optional)
- Find and mark the wall studs. Use a stud finder to find the wall studs, or you can do the cheap way and tap around the wall until you hear a sound change and than hit a nail into the wall around that area until you found a stud. Mark the wall with a pencil once the studs are found, and do a drill test to make sure that the stud was hit.
- Mark the position of the self. Decide where you want the bottom edge of the self to sit and use a pencil to mark the position. Use a level as a guide to make sure the position is straight.
- Mark the holes on the wall for the bracket. Mark the attachment holes on the wall by lining up the top of each bracket with the pencil line. Then, set the bracket to the side.
- Drill holes in the wall to fit the anchors for the shelves. Tap each anchor into the wall with a hammer on the pencil lines you marked. Attach the brackets to the wall by lining up the brackets in front of the anchor and fasten the screws into the walls. Lay your shelf on top of the brackets, and then screw the bracket into the self. Enjoy your new selves.
