How To Have A Successful Marriage

Learn how to have a successful marriage. Many marriages today fail for one reason or another. That fact alone can discourage couples from taking the matrimonial plunge. A successful marriage, though, is possible.

  1. Communicate regularly. Open communication is important. Spend time together daily talking, just talking. Talk about your day, cares, problems and anything else that you can think of. Be honest with your feelings toward your marriage and your mate. Always ask your mate before making big decisions or large purchases. Contact your mate at work with a simple text just to let him/her know that you care. Remember that a communication does not just mean talking. Listen to your mate. Acknowledge what they say and then respond.
  2. Be respectful. All successful marriages are built on respect. Husbands must respect their wives and wives must respect their husbands. Do not be overly critical of your spouse. Do not demean them in public or in private. Be kind and loving in word and deed and everything will be ok.
  3. Trust and be trustworthy. Trust is a very important aspect of a successful relationship. Someone who is always suspicious of their mate can get pretty annoying. It can also make an innocent mate feel bad about him or herself. If you love your mate you would never want to purposefully make him or her feel bad. Also, be trustworthy. Do not hide things from your mate and when they ask you questions, remember that honesty is always the best policy.

A successful marriage requires more than love. Open honest communication, respect and trust are the building blocks of a happy and successful marriage.
