How to Hide Desktop Icons

To hide desktop icons on the screen of your desktop/ laptop computer system is a simple task and takes only a matter of seconds to complete. Once completing the task a few benefits will be apparent. To hide desktop icons on the screen of the Vista operating system, perform these simple steps.

Start the Vista system. Once the Desktop is viewable, proceed with the first step. First, right-click on an empty area of the desktop, a menu will appear. Second, select “View” a sub-menu will display. Third, select and click the “Show Desktop Icons” option to hide all the desktop icons. In three easy steps, you have cleared the desktop Icons from the Vista desktop.

Note: In order to show the desktop icons, simply right-click , select  "View" then select and click "Show Desktop Icons" option. The desktop icons have re-appeared.
