How to hold a paintball gun properly really depends on the type of paintball gun you are using. On the market today there are several types of paintball guns. These guns range from pistols, to Special Ops to cannons. For this article, we will discuss the proper handling of the most common and widely used paintball marker gun. This will cover the most widely used and probably most difficult to comfortably manage.

What you will need for this:

  • Paintball marker gun (fully assembled)
  1. The paintball marker gun has a unique design. The paintball marker has the hopper on top (where the paintballs live), a long barrel, trigger, front handle (similar to the old German luger) and the air tank in the back. The gun itself is awkward based on the weight distribution. With the hopper and tank in the back all the weight shifts in that direction.
  2. To hold the paintball marker gun properly place the air tank either on the shoulder or butted against it. This is a personal comfort choice, either will work. You will need to turn the paintball marker gun slightly inward or out as to not obstruct your line of site. Place one hand on the trigger and the other on the handle in from of the trigger.
  3. Line your eyes up with the paintball marker barrel to use as your line of site. Keep the paintball marker gun steady and use one to two fingers to activate the trigger. Stance is not important as you will be more than likely mobile. What is important is to maintain your balance when shooting and be aware of your surroundings.
