How To Hunt Wild Hogs
Before you go wild hog hunting you should first learn how to hunt wild hogs properly and safely. There is a reason why they are called wild hogs. They are strong, aggressive and bold. This article will show you how to hunt wild hogs effectively.
- Shoot at a distance. To hunt wild hogs use a rifle to safely shoot from a distance instead of a close range gun. A rifle will also give you better accuracy and a better chance at a one shot kill. Some hunters will shoot the hog a few more times as they are approaching it since wild hogs have a tendency to "play dead", only to attack the hunter when it gets close up on it.
- Use pheromones. To attract the wild boars try using a sow-in-heat pheromone. You can purchase this from hunting stores or online. Pour the pheromones onto a sponge or cloth and place it it upwind of the wild hogs. Usually the largest of the boars will be the first on the scene.
- Use a Box Blind. A box blind is a great way to hunt wild hogs. It allows you to stay fully hidden and blend in with the surroundings. You can build your own box blind to hide in or purchase one from a hunting store. In a few seasons when the wild hogs are use to the box blind, they will come close to it, allowing you to pick your desired hog to shoot from the heard.
- Keep your presence down. When hunting wild hogs try to keep your body odor as natural as possible. Wild hogs have a great sense of smell so don't put on any colognes, lotions or shampoos. Also be as quiet and motionless as possible since wild hogs also have a good sense of hearing and sight.
