1. Feel free to ask any questions. Let's say you are trying to buy something from an online auction. The posting you are looking into appears to be very simple and unclear. Coincidentally, the seller has many listings on the profile without any ratings. At this point, you should find out more information before purchasing the item. If the seller replies with a lame answer, or maybe no answer at all, then you can conclude that the seller might be a scam artist. You should be able to handle this situation with your common sense. Just remember that asking questions will only benefit you!
2. Verify all the information. Think about this online dating situation. Someone just gets connected with you. You are now chatting with this person. Pay very close attention to this person's profile and conversations. If some of the words do not match with his or her profile details, or if all this person talks about is her financial problems and is wanting help, then more than likely you are dealing with a scam artist. If your gut feeling is given you some weird signals, you should stop communicating with this person immediately. 
3. Never give out your personal information. You are looking for a job online. You come across some websites where many job listings are available for you to apply for. However, you are required to pay them a fee in order to apply for any jobs. They are now asking for your bank account or credit card information. Who on earth would charge someone for submitting a job application? It makes no sense, right? Obviously, these websites are created by those scam artists who try to make the desperate job hunters  believe that money can buy them a job, quickly! Do not fall for it!
