How To Improve Your Sweat Smell
Figuring out how to improve your sweat smell is basically a process of elimination, and it may also involve a few lifestyle changes. Many people simply load up on as much deodorant as possible and hope for the best, but some people want to know exactly what is going on so that they can completely change the smell of their sweat. There’s actually no guarantee that you’ll be able to deal with a bad sweat smell, but it’s probably worth a try.
- Figure out if you’re the only person in your family with a bad sweat smell. Sometimes these things are simply genetic, and if that’s the case, you may be in trouble. If you just have an especially nasty natural smell, you can try wearing clothes that let your skin breath, and you might want to use a lot of antibacterial soap when you’re bathing. It’s also possible that everybody in your family has a similar diet, and if that’s the case, you may have options.
- Think about what you eat, and look for certain trends. For many people, these problems develop because they eat a lot of spicy food, or their diet may be imbalanced. When we say imbalanced, we’re talking about both ends of the spectrum. You may eat too much meat or too little. You may eat too much fat or too many green vegetables. The basic idea is that your diet should be varied, or your body might get overloaded with certain nutrients, and then they can come out in your sweat smell.
- Bathe as often as you’re comfortable with. This may seem kind of obvious, but you have to understand that it’s probably not your sweat that’s causing the problem. The sweat that comes out of your underarms and a few other especially odorous areas of the body contains fat and some other extra stuff. This kind of sweat is a tasty feast for a wide variety of bacterium, and they make a stinky smell as they digest the stuff. If you can stay clean enough, there is a chance that you might limit their numbers enough to improve your sweat smell.
- Go to the doctor. The chances are very slim, but there is a real possibility that stinky sweat might be a warning sign of something wrong in your body. When we metabolize things incorrectly, they can cause imbalances in all of our systems, and the end result might be stinky sweat. If your body is processing things in an improper way, it could be a cause for concern, and you might want to look into it.
