How to Indy grab on a snowboard is a fun trick you can perform off a basic jump. Learning the Indy grab is basic once you reach a level where jumps are not an issue. Understand the dynamics of any in-air grab requires balance and management over your body. Learning the Indy is an exciting step up the trickology ladder for many snowboarders. Snowboarding is a hella bad-ass sport with an ever growing population. Learning tricks such as the Indy are sure ways to set yourself apart from the weekend snowboarder. The Indy is a great step towards a broader spectrum of in-air tricks.

What you will need to pull off this trick:

  • Snowboard
  • Room to maneuver
  • Jump or half-pipe
  • Advanced skill level
  1. Approach the ramp or half-pipe with enough speed to gain air. As you approach the apex, prepare yourself for the jump. Bend your knees and push off as you’re near the edge.
  2. While airborne, pull your knees towards your chest. This will put the snowboard in arms reach. Using the hand closest to the toe side (side closest to your lead foot), reach down and grip the board.
  3. The other hand should be up in the air or out in front of you. As you descend, it is important to remember to let go of the snowboard. Straighten out your legs but leave a slight bend to the knees (to absorb the impact). Stick the landing to complete the Indy.
