For fun, functionality and other goodies, learning how to install apps on an iPod Touch can provide all of that and more.  Just like an iPhone, apps from the iTunes Store can be installed on iPod Touch models, allowing a variety of games, tools and entertainment on the go.   Installing apps on an iPod Touch is quick and painless, and with over 100,000 apps available, you're sure to find one you love.

  1. Find a Wi-Fi connection.  To connect to the iTunes store and install apps on an iPod Touch, you must connect to Wi-Fi first.  If you are in a Wi-Fi hotspot, your iPod Touch should connect automatically or ask you to connect from the options available.  Once you see the Wi-Fi symbol appear in the upper information bar, you are connected and ready to go.
  2. Connect to the iTunes App Store.  Navigate on your iPod Touch to open the iTunes App Store.  If you have an iTunes account, enter your account details and password.  If you need an account, you will be prompted to create one.
  3. Find an app you'd like to install.  Browse the iTunes App Store to find an application you'd like.  If there is a specific app you'd like, use the search option to find that specific app.
  4. Install an app on an iPod Touch.  Once you've found the app you'd like, click the green "Buy Now" or blue "Free" button to begin the installation process.  Remember many apps are not free, with the purchase price charged to your payment method entered for your iTunes account.  Based on your settings, you may be prompted to enter your iTunes password again.  The app will begin to download and install automatically.  An icon for the app will appear along with a progress bar, showing the status of the download.  Once the installation is complete, you are ready to use your new app.
