When you install a car amplifier, you are actually increasing the power of your speakers, so that you can have a satisfactory audio system. Since this task is relatively simple, you will not need to hire a professional if you feel you can manage the process alone. You can easily follow the steps outlined in this article that will help you to install a car amplifier.

To install a car amplifier you will need:

  • Car Audio Amplifier
  • Thick Power Cable
  • 16-Gauge Wire
  • Screwdrivers
  • Wire Strippers
  • Wire Cutters
  • Sandpaper
  • Pen
  • Masking Tape
  • O-Rings
  1. Location To Install The Amplifier. Before you begin the installation process, you will have to decide where in the car you would like to mount your new amplifier. The ideal location would be in the trunk or an area where the amplifier will not be exposed to heat.
  2. Unplug The Power Source. For your safety, unplug the ground cable from the battery. Find a location to run the power cable through the firewall of the car. You will find this step is easier to do if you use the opening of the driver's side to get to the car amplifier. It is also important to make sure that the power cable or wire does not get twisted repeatedly.
  3. Make A Strong Connection. All the wires should be properly secured and connected. Wires should not be exposed. If this should happen, simply attach the amp to the 12 gauge speaker wire you wish to power.
