Never learned how to install a car battery?, and want to know how to finally do it? If you tell someone you don't know how to install a battery, it can be very embarrassing since most people do. Don't worry; the simple steps to install a car battery are here for you below this introduction.

Things you will need:

  • New battery
  • Pliers
  1. Remove old battery. Open the hood and remove old battery by unscrewing the nuts that hold the connectors to the battery, but make sure that your car is turned off first to prevent accident. Once the old battery is disconnected from its connectors, remove it and redeem it at a local auto parts store for five to ten dollars at a later date.
  2. Attach new battery to connectors. Take the new battery and place the connectors onto the two metal prongs that are on the top of the battery. One of the prong will say "+" or positive the other will say "-" or negative. The positive also is color coded with the color red and the negative is always associated with the color black. After you have matched up the connectors with the corresponding prongs on the battery, tighten the screws that connect the connectors to the battery.
  3. Turn the car on to test new battery. You should always test new batteries, sometimes duds are sold unknowingly by the company you buy them from. This is always a good practice, so that you can get the problem solved immediately.
