How To Install A Scanner
You’ll need to learn how to install a scanner if you’ve just recently bought one. Fortunately, installing a scanner is a very easy and straightforward process that does not require any tools or long periods of time. In fact, installing a scanner only takes fifteen minutes, making this a very quick job. With your new scanner, you can easily scan, back-up and edit documents, photos and slides. Your scanner should come with an installation CD, a USB cable and a power cord.
Materials:
- Scanner
- Installation CD
- USB cable
- Hook up the scanner. Take the scanner, USB cable and power cord out of the box. Make sure you have all of the attachments needed. Attach the power cord to the scanner and plug the other end into an AC outlet. Plug the USB cable into the scanner, but don’t plug the other end into the computer just yet.
- Run the installation CD. Place the installation CD into the computer and launch the setup program. If the program does not automatically launch after placing the CD into the computer, go to My Computer and navigate to the CD. Right click, then click Open and double click setup.exe. Follow all of the steps listed in the program and plug the USB cable if prompted.
- Complete the installation. After the program is complete, if you haven’t plugged in the USB cable, do so now. Your computer should prompt you that it has found the scanner as new hardware and that it is ready for use.
