There are many different ways to approach the question of how to kick a soccer ball. The answers have to do with what type of a kick you are trying to achieve. Generally speaking, if you kick a soccer ball with the inside of your foot, the ball's flight path will curve inwards. If you kick with the outside part of your foot, the ball will curve outwards. If you use the top part of your foot to kick the ball, you get more power. The most common way to kick a soccer ball is with the inside part of your foot so this is the method we will explore today.

To kick a soccer ball, you will need:

  • A soccer ball
  • An open area such as a field or empty gymnasium to kick the ball
  1. The approach. To kick a soccer ball, you will want to add some power to the strike. The easiest way to achieve this is by approaching the ball and planting your off foot (or non-kicking foot) right next to the ball.
  2. The strike. After your off foot is planted right next to the ball, kick the soccer ball using the inside of your foot. The inside foot kicks are a great way to learn how to control the soccer ball's path.
  3. All together now. When you are learning how to kick a soccer ball, it is all about rhythm and timing. You want to start a few steps behind the ball and jog forward, plant your foot beside the soccer ball and then use your body's momentum to give you power in the kick.
