In the beginner DVD, you will learn all the basics to kickboxing and start at a manageable pace for beginners. However, you will notice your endurance and strength increasing quickly and it will eventually plateau. If this happens, then move on to the intermediate kickboxing DVD and finally to the advanced.
- You can also learn the art of kickboxing from a book. Depending on the style of kickboxing you want to learn, there are plenty of books available. Some books will focus on cardio kickboxing, while others will focus on the martial art aspect. Most of them will be reliable sources of information and can teach you a lot about how to practice kickboxing.
- You can look for cardio kickboxing classes in the nearest city or town. Cardio classes are usually offered at different gyms like the YMCA because kickboxing is such a great form of exercise. Find the instructor you like the most and take classes there. You will most likely see better results from attending kickboxing classes than watching a DVD or reading a book. However, it is best that you have at least some background knowledge of how to practice kickboxing before you attend so that you are not thrown completely off guard.
- If you want to learn kickboxing as a martial art from an instructor, then it may require a little more patience and research. Kickboxing is much more popular as an aerobic exercise than as a martial art in the US. Try searching the yellow pages under martial arts or kickboxing. Also, you can look on the internet by typing kickboxing, martial arts and your city name in any search engine. If you cannot find anything, then karate, Taekwondo and plenty of other martial arts are reasonably good substitutes.
