How To Light The Pilot On Liquid Propane Stove

Learning how to light the pilot on liquid propane stove is not as difficult as you may think. Liquid propane stoves are becoming more and more common and therefore, it can be very useful to learn how to light the pilot on liquid propane stove. Learning how to light the pilot light on liquid propane stove is essential for the safe use of your propane stove. Do not attempt to light the pilot on liquid propane stove if you do not feel confident using matches or a grill lighter. Using a grill lighter will allow you to keep your hands safe and light the pilot on a liquid propane stove much easier.

  1. Expose the pilot. Remove the range top from your liquid propane stove if necessary. Expose the pilot light location and the opening where the gas comes out of on your liquid propane stove. Do not remove the range top if the gas opening is exposed already.
  2. Check for gas odor. Verify it is safe to light the pilot light on your liquid propane stove. Smell around the stove and the pilot to ensure there is no a heavy gas odor. Avoid lighting the liquid propane stove if there is a gas odor. Liquid propane has an odor similar to traditional natural gas.
  3. Prepare the flame. Light the grill lighter or the match. Place the grill lighter or the match in front of the opening where the gas comes from. Ensure the match or the grill lighter remains lit.
  4. Light the pilot. Turn the knob on the front of the stove to activate the burner you wish to re-light. Remove the grill lighter or match once the liquid propane stove pilot light has been lit. Quickly remove your hand once the pilot is lit to avoid injury.

Tip:

Clean the gas opening for the pilot light on the liquid propane stove before attempting to re-light the stove.
