How To Lighten Skin
Want to learn about how to lighten skin? A variety of over the counter gels, ointments, and packs claim, and sometimes do, help in lightening the skin. However, some of the most effective lightening agents, right for all types of skin, are totally organic and can be made at home.
- Almonds - Soak four almonds in a cup of water overnight. In the morning, remove the skins and grind them. Mix the almond paste with one teaspoon of milk, one tablespoon of gram flour and no fewer than four drops of lemon juice. Apply this paste on your face and leave undisturbed for no less than 15 minutes. Later, rinse away with cold and hot water alternately.
- Sandalwood - Another way to lighten skin is to use powder of the sandalwood bark. Available in Indian specialty stores, a teaspoonful of this powder can be mixed into a paste with five to six drops of rose water. Apply this paste to your neck and face daily and keep it on till it dries. A few weeks of this regime will definitely help lighten the skin tone.
- Turmeric - Turmeric is another herbal agent known for its skin lightening properties. Mix turmeric powder, available in Indian specialty stores, with half a teaspoon of milk cream, four drops of lemon juice and unflavoured yogurt. For more effect, you could also add tomato pulp and sandalwood powder or papaya paste and cucumber juice. Apply this mixture on your neck and face and leave the mask on for about 15 minutes. Scrub off with a wet cloth and then rinse with cold water.
