Learning how to lose weight the healthy way is challenging, but can be done. Losing weight should be done in a healthy way. If weight is lost too quickly, the pounds will come back and the diet will be unsuccessful. There are strategies to follow for permanent and healthy weight loss.

  1. Drink at least 10 glasses of water a day. Drinking water helps metabolize fat and lose weight. Hydrate the body and the kidneys will flush the waste out.
  2. Eat 5 times a day, instead of three big meals. Eating 3 well portioned meals and two low-fat snacks is a healthy way to lose weight.

  3. Eat small portion sizes. Cutting down on portion sizes will decrease the amount of calorie intake, making it easier to lose weight in a healthy way.

  4. Do not skip meals. Eating increases metabolism and when a meal is skipped, the metabolism slows down to conserve calories which makes it difficult to lose weight.

  5. Exercise is vital for healthy weight loss. Exercise 30 minutes a day at least 5 times a week. Learn how to combine cardiovascular exercise along with weight training.

  6. Eat 5 servings of fruits and vegetables each day. Fruits and vegetables fill the stomach up quick which results in having a full feeling and not eating as much.

  7. Eat foods containing good carbohydrates. Whole-wheat bread, whole wheat pasta, oats, and brown rice are ideal foods to eat when trying to lose weight.

  8. Avoid eating carbohydrates after 5:00 pm or after dinner. Unused carbohydrates are normally stored as fat.
