When finding ways how to make a car green, you don't need to worry about spending thousands or even hundreds of dollars. In fact, you more than likely will save money while making a car green. You don't have to shell out thousands for a brand new hybrid car, or even a used hybrid, either. There are numerous ways to make the car you already own more eco-friendly. Here are some ways to make a car green.

  1. Don't drive unnecessarily. If you're destination is within walking or biking distance, choose one of those transportation options over a car. The less you use your car the greener it is. Using your car less is one of the easiest ways you can make a car green. This also includes carpooling. If you are going to the same destination as several other people, make most of your cars greener by only using one vehicle. One more thing you can do is run errands all together if possible. Reducing the amount of fuel you use and the time you run your car is a great way to make a car green.
  2. Keep up with your car's maintenance. Maintaining your car is an easy, and important, way to make a car green. Maintaining your car will keep it running smoothly and efficiently. Take the proper steps to maintain your car by changing the oil regularly and making sure your tires are inflated.
  3. Drive safely. Drive like a responsible driver to reduce accidents, which is greener for your car and people as accidents can cause leakage problems, among other environmentally hazardous problems.
  4. Maintain the speed limit. Driving within the speed limit is another great, safe way to make a car green. It is important, as well, to make sure to not drive over 60 miles per hour, since after that point your car burns fuel faster, and is thus, less efficient and less eco-friendly.
  5. Don't idle. Idling your car burns fuel and causes pollution. It's more than likely your car's engine doesn't need to warm up to run smoothly, and if you won't be using your car for more than a few moments, turn the engine off to make your car green.
  6. Use eco-friendly car cleaning products. When cleaning a car, use green car cleaning products to make a car green. Using natural car cleaning products and windshield fluid is a great way to make a car green and healthier for people, too.
  7. Reduce the weight in your car. If you have unnecessary heavy objects in your car's back seat or trunk, take them out. Reducing the weight a car is carrying will make a car green.
  8. Don't overuse the heat or air conditioning. Running the heat or air conditioning when it's not necessary will waste fuel. So, to make a car green, turn off the heat or air conditioner if not needed.
