Have you ever wondered how to make chicken and dumplings from scratch? Maybe you are holding a dinner party or you want to make a special meal for that special someone in your life. A nice home cooked meal of chicken and dumplings will warm the heart and soul.

To make chicken and dumplings, you will need:

  • Chicken
  • Biscuits
  • Celery
  • Carrots
  • Flour
  • Oil
  • Chicken bouillon cubes
  •  Chicken broth
  • Cornstarch
  • Olive oil
  1. Turn your oven burner on medium high. Preheat your pan. Use a deep-set skillet. This meal will be completed using only one pan. Sprinkle about 5 Tbsp of Olive Oil in the pan, and warm.
  2. Coat your chicken with flour, while your pan and oil warm. Lay the floured chicken in your skillet. Repeat until your pan is full or you no longer have any chicken.
  3. Cover and cook chicken. Turn occasionally to cook all sides of chicken, and to avoid burning. Brown the chicken until a nice crust appears on the skin. Cook thoroughly. This will prevent Salmonella.
  4. Dice carrots and celery. Set aside for later use.
  5. Mix six Tbsp of cornstarch with two cups of water. Set aside. Cornstarch prevents lumping in gravy.
  6. Open your tube of biscuits you previously purchased at your local grocer. The biscuits are uncooked and raw. Separate biscuits.
  7. Remove cover from chicken, once the chicken is has completed cooking. Fill three-quarters of the skillet with water.
  8. Add the carrots and celery to the skillet. Add the bouillon cubes. The amount will vary depending on your preference. Typically, 6-10 bouillon cubes are required.
  9. Bring to a boil and slowly add the cornstarch mixture. Stir frequently. Add enough to make medium thick gravy.
  10. Lay biscuits on top of the Chicken and gravy mixture. Cover skillet and cook until biscuits are done. Enjoy!
