How To Make Christmas Card Gift Box
Learn how to make a Christmas card gift box by recycling your old Christmas and greeting cards. Gift boxes made from Christmas cards will save you money because you will no longer need to buy gift boxes or gift wrapping paper.
To make a Christmas card gift box, you will need:
- Christmas greeting cards
- Ruler
- Scissors
- Double sided tape
-
Cut the front off two Christmas cards at the fold with scissors. Discard the back pieces.
-
Measure the inside of the first card with a ruler one inch from each edge and draw a line with a pencil. Note: There will be a perfect square drawn in each corner when you are finished.
-
Fold each of the four sides inward toward the middle of the card at the line and make a crease in the paper.
-
Make a cut on the inside edge of the corner square to the one inch line. Cut the short sides of the card only and make a total of four cuts. The cuts will create an end flap in each corner.
-
Place a small piece of double sided tape on the outside of each corner flap. Fold the long side edges inward, fold the corner flaps in, and then attach the short side flap to he corners with double sided tap to create the box corners.
-
Repeat the steps to make the bottom of the gift box. Make the measurement around the edges of the second card front just under an inch, so the lid will fit tightly over the bottom of the box.
Tips
- If you don’t have two cards that are the same size, cut the front off the smaller card, place it on the inside front of the larger card, and trace around it with a pencil. Cut the larger card to size.
Warnings
- Make the box from cards that are the same size so the top and bottom will fit together correctly.
