How To Make Concrete Sinks

Need to know how to make concrete sinks? When you learn how to make concrete sinks the world is your oyster. You will save a significant amount of money in labor costs when you are updating your kitchen by learning how to make concrete sinks yourself.

  1. Make a detailed plan. It is critical that you plan ahead for this project. Start making some rough sketches so that you know what you want out of a concrete sink. After that, then you should make a drawing to scale of the sink. Do this from 3 different angles, from the top, the side and from 90 degrees from that view. Clearly mark all of the dimensions. This is very critical.
  2. Make the mould. The mould is what you will pour the concrete into. Build the bottom of the mould first. Use plywood to make the frame. Seal all cracks with caulk. Remember to put tubes in all the spots where you want drains, faucets and drainage holes. Make sure the negative space on the inside of the sink is firmly made.
  3. Fill the mould with concrete. Mix your concrete until it has the consistency of oatmeal. Then carefully pour it into the mould. Once you have filled the mould, smooth the surface. Cover and let set for as long as the instructions dictate.
  4. Remove sink from mould and waterproof your concrete sink. Make sure to waterproof well. Because your sink will be holding water, and is permeable to water, it is critical to get this step right. Apply the sealer as evenly as possible, and let cure for as long as possible.

Now all you have to do is install the concrete sink and you are ready to go. If you see any cracks in the cement or the sealer, stop using the sink and reseal it.
