How To Make An Exercise Plan To Lose Weight

Making an exercise plan to lose weight is a personal experience. Only you know what you want to accomplish and what areas you need the most work on. When planning your exercise routine, there are several things you want to keep in mind.

  1. What level you are. There's a huge difference between someone who's never stepped foot onto a gym floor and someone who's there every day at dawn to do their hour long routine. Know whether you're a beginner, advanced, or somewhere in between.
  2. How many days you want to work out. Sure, your mind is telling you that you ought to work out every day of the week for an hour or more so that you can reach your goal faster. The problem is that our mind tends to block out the rest of our lives when it decides that it has a goal in mind. So, while 7 days a week is great in theory, factoring in work or school or life will limit the amount of time you can work out.
  3. What you are trying to accomplish. Sure, the ultimate goal is to lose weight, but there are other things that figure into that. Do you want to build muscle? Be agile? Flexible? Have more endurance? Decide on specific goals that accompany your weight loss goal, so that you know what exercises will be best suited for your needs.
  4. Check with your doctor. Most doctors will be thrilled to hear that you want to get fit, but they've got a little insight into you that you don't always have access to. Your doctor can help you determine an appropriate amount of exercise for your body type and can also make suggestions about dietary needs that go along with it.

Tip: There are many online sources that will help you make an exercise plan and offer recipes and support as you're working towards your goals. There are also support groups on many of the messenger servers where you can track your progress, encourage others, and find encouragement. It never hurts to have people rooting for you.

Getting into shape takes a lot of work and discipline. An exercise plan helps set up a routine that makes the work more manageable and easier to stick to. Remember to keep your eye on the prize. Good luck!
