How To Make A Grenadine Cocktail
If you are looking for a refreshing beverage that is super sweet and not overpowering, a Grenadine cocktail is definitely the drink for you. The Grenadine cocktail has a sweet berry flavor that is sure to satisfy even the most dormant of taste buds. Grenadine is typically made of cherry juice or pomegranate juice, and is pinkish red in color, giving your classy cocktail that little something extra.
The name "Grenadine" originates from the French word for "grenade," which is translated to pomegranate. Grenadine was, in its infancy, created from pomegranate juice or cherry juice and sugar. The name "Grenadine" is also, oftentimes, commonly given to syrups and beverages comprised of other fruit juices (examples being raspberry, red currant, or blackberry) and sugar syrup.
To make a Grenadine cocktail, you will need the following ingredients before you are basking in its delightful deliciousness:
- 1 oz Grenadine
- 6 oz ginger ale or lemon lime soda
- 2 oz orange juice (optional, but gives the drink an extra zing)
- Ice
- Cocktail glass
- Place a couple cubes of ice into the cocktail glass. For an extra cold drink, chill the glass first by placing it in the freezer for 2-3 hours ahead of time. The aforementioned step is most certainly optional, but a cold temperature unlocks a lot of flavor potential.
- Add in the Grenadine, ginger ale or lemon lime soda, and orange juice. Once all of the ingredients are combined, stir to your heart's content for a tasty, refreshing, Grenadine cocktail.
