Knowing how to make homemade Christmas cards is a great way to personalize the holiday season and make it your own. Because of the creativity involved, there is no wrong way to make homemade Christmas cards and just about anyone can do it. Take the time to send a special message during the holiday season.

To make homemade Christmas cards you will need:

  • card stock (or pre-made, blank cards)
  • writing utensils of your choice (pens, markers etc.)
  • any embellishments that you would like to add
  1. Purchase or track down all of the materials that you will need. When you sit down to make homemade Christmas cards, it is easier to have everything all together in one place so that you can get as many done as possible at one time.
  2. Begin by creating the basic homemade Christmas cards. Fold sheets of card stock in half to create a homemade card. You can use any size that you would like. Use a full sheet for a large card, or cut out little rectangles to use the homemade Christmas cards as tags for presents. One of the best ways to save time is to purchase already folded blank cards in any holiday colors.
  3. Think about what you want the homemade Christmas cards to say. Typically there is a message on the inside that encourages the reader to have a Merry Christmas, a Happy Holiday, or how you are thinking about them during this special holiday season. You can write or stamp the message into the homemade Christmas cards.
  4. Decide what to put on the cover of the card. Here, you can use a little creativity when it comes to how to make your homemade Christmas cards. You can draw, stamp, or cut out a picture to be the center and main focal point of the card. Or, you can do something more simple like spread glue from a glue stick around the cover and sprinkle fake snow to give it a seasonal look.
  5. Place in envelopes. If you are going to be mailing your homemade Christmas cards, you need to place them in envelopes, address them and send them out. If you aren't going to be mailing them, you can decide whether or not you want to use an envelope.
  6. Add to the decorations on Christmas presents by attaching your homemade Christmas cards to gifts. This will look really nice under the tree and can be very simple to do. You can tape the back of the homemade Christmas cards and stick them to a present, or using a hold punch, create a hole, thread ribbon through it and then wrap the ribbon around the gift.

Once you know how to make homemade Christmas cards, you have an opportunity to make something special for the holiday season.
