Like many other nostalgic and unusual cocktail recipes, knowing how to make a honeydew me shooter drink is becoming more popular. Melons and other fruits have long been used as ingredients in refreshing summer cocktails and evoke a nostalgic feeling of sipping fresh, summery drinks while at a family picnic or just relaxing on the porch of a southern plantation home. Regardless of where you are when sipping on this cocktail, the honeydew melon adds a burst of sweet flavor to a drink that is once again gaining in popularity. If this drink is a little too sweet for you, consider adding a bit more lemon juice to balance out the flavors.
What you’ll need to make one Honeydew Cocktail:
- 1 wine glass or champagne flute
- electric blender
- ½ cup ice cubes
- 1 oz good quality gin
- ½ oz fresh lemon juice
- ¼ oz Pernod
- 2 oz or about 2 tablespoons of finely diced honeydew melon
- chilled champagne
- sprig of mint or thin slice of honeydew melon for garnish
BLEND Place the ice cubes and melon into the bottom of an electric blender. Pulse off and on while on high for 30 seconds or until roughly combined. You may need to turn the machine off and move the contents around a time or two before they'll fully combine.
COMBINE Remove the lid of the blender and add the gin, lemon juice, and Pernod. Pulse for another 10 to 20 seconds or until well combined.
POUR Pour into a chilled wine glass or champagne flute, ensuring not to drip on the rim or down the side of the glass.
GARNISH Garnish with a sprig of mint or a thin slice of honeydew melon.
