How to make an Imperial Fizz cocktail. One of those few really good cocktails based on whiskey, the Imperial Fizz is something every whiskey fan should try. It's also sometimes called a Whiskey Fizz for obvious reasons and should only be made with a good blended whiskey. Some recipes also add a half ounce to a full ounce of light or dark rum and there is also a recipe with chilled champagne and one and half ounces of bourbon and no whiskey, but for the sake of simplicity the simplest and most common recipe is provided here. If you want to try it with other ingredients, you can just add the rum, or substitute the whiskey with bourbon and add champagne instead of club soda.
To make an Imperial Fizz cocktail you will need:
- 2 oz. Blended whiskey
- 1 oz. Lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp Superfine sugar
- 4 oz. Soda
- Highball glass
Mix: To make an Imperial Fizz, the first step is to pour the blended whiskey and lemon juice into the cocktail shaker.
- Stir: Add the superfine sugar, give it a stir, then add ice to the Imperial Fizz mix.
- Shake: Once all the ingredients are in, shake until you are happy with the way the ingredients for the Imperial Fizz have mixed.
- Pour: Once you’re happy with the mix, carefully strain it into the highball glass and then add the soda. Real soda is best but club soda can be an alternative if needed. There’s no garnish for the Imperial Fizz cocktail.
- Drink:Chugging isn’t really recommended with the Imperial Fizz cocktail. Enjoy it slowly with friends.
