Cancer should be taken very serious and the first rule of thumb should be to change the acidic body into an alkaline body. Cancer cannot survive when the PH is eight and above. The macrobiotic philosophy is to remove the toxins from the body and create a renewed spirit and happiness.

  1. Following a Physician’s Advice. As with any diet or new lifestyle, it is imperative to be under the care of a licensed macrobiotic diet for cancer physician.  Cancer is very serious and the patient who is very weak will need more nutrition and vitamins, such as Vitamin D and B12.
  2. Learn First the Philosophy of the Macrobiotic Diet for Cancer. Followers of the macrobiotic diet for cancer must first learn that food can create toxins in the body and by practicing the “Yen and Yang” Chinese principles of life; a diseased patient can fully recover or prevent cancer from attacking in the first place.  Macrobiotics is more than a diet, it is a healthy lifestyle and belief in the energy of yin and yang.
  3. What is Yin and Yang?  According to Kushi Macrobiotic Cancer Center, “Yin and yang are the antagonistic and complementary forces that create and balance all phenomena in the universe.” By learning which body parts are yin opposed to yang, the physician is able to treat the entire disease. Foods are also classified as yin and yang energies and knowing which ones produce heat and cold, the practitioner is in perfect balance.
  4. Cooking Utensils. The macrobiotic cancer diet emphasizes the use of gas heat as gas heat has energy. The use of a gas stove, pressure cooker and cast iron utensils should be used on this diet. Wooden utensils to cook with are also suggested.
  5. Why Does Disease Happen? The disease attacks the body due to living out of balance when the body is put back into balance the disease will leave and the body becomes happy and relaxed. The macrobiotic diet is built on seven stages showing how processed foods cause toxins in the body and therefore disease eventually will cause the soul to go home.
  6. Diet. The diet is basically a vegan diet with no dairy, animal fats, coffee, eggs and sugar. The diet does allow approximately 50% in whole grains, vegetables 20 to 30% and the remaining 10% is for soups, beans and sea vegetables.
  7. Daily Menu Selections.  Approximately two bowls of soup is eaten per day and with the vegetables steamed or lightly sauté. Whole grains consist of brown rice, millet, oats, barley, corn, rye, buckwheat, and whole wheat.  Also miso and tamari is used for the basis of soups and water and herbal teas are the beverages. Beans are use frequently on the diet and potatoes, tomatoes and eggplant are vegetables to be avoided.
  8. Limited Amounts to the Macrobiotic Cancer Diet. White meat, fish, fruits and naturally sweetened desserts are allowed in limited amounts. Fruits are high in sugar and therefore avoided on a regular basis
  9. Clinical Studies. There were two popular clinical studies done on the effectiveness of the macrobiotic cancer diet and in both studies patients improved and lived up to three times longer than those who went on a traditional American diet. Although it must be stated that no one diet is perfect for everyone, the macrobiotic cancer diet has had some very positive results.
  10. Cost of the Macrobiotic Diet.  Depending on if a clinic is used to aid in the recovery of the cancer patient, the diet cost no more than consuming a regular organic healthy diet. There are no expensive drugs to buy or medicines to take. Practitioners feel that pharmaceutical drugs cause harm to the body and should be avoided.
