1. First, set up an online poker account, and deposit some money. Many different online poker sites allow small deposits of as little as $20, so if money is tight at first, start small, and play as you would with a lot of money.
2. Next, join a game, and begin to win. Start small. Join tables that do not use much money at all. Folding early will hardly take any money away, but a big win on a big hand can significantly raise your account's value (or hurt it, if you loose on a big hand).
3. If people bet early, and you have only a decent hand, that is not immediately promising (meaning, no suited high card, no pair, and no face cards), learn to fold right off the bat.
