How To Make Money Online Poker
Learning how to make money at online poker requires you to have a thorough understanding of the game. You will also need to be patient, and have a sound mind when trying to win, as it is a tedious process. Following is some advice on how to make money at online poker.
- First, set up an online poker account, and deposit some money. Many different online poker sites allow small deposits of as little as $20, so if money is tight at first, start small, and play as you would with a lot of money.
- Next, join a game, and begin to win. Start small. Join tables that do not use much money at all. Folding early will hardly take any money away, but a big win on a big hand can significantly raise your account's value (or hurt it, if you loose on a big hand).
- If people bet early, and you have only a decent hand, that is not immediately promising (meaning, no suited high card, no pair, and no face cards), learn to fold right off the bat. The key to making money online is to try to play for free on hands that see no early betting, to at least make it to the flop for very little money. That is unless your cards are amazing.
- If you have a promising hand, follow it, but know when to fold. If the flop does nothing for you, and people start or continue betting, learn to give up hope on that last card, as it probably will not come. Although every once in a while, after folding, the one or two cards you need show up. But more often, they do not, so quit unless you are continually dominating with your hand.
- Play only if you have great and very promising cards. And do not follow them too far if you get no help from the flop. If no one bets much in a hand, consider a small bluff at the end, and if someone re-raises much higher, fold if you haven't got great cards. Learn to follow these steps with no exceptions. It is easy to get hunches about your hands, but ignore them unless your cards are great, or there is only small better in the hand.
Learning how to make money at online poker is not something learned overnight, and not something that can be accomplished by anyone. You will need self discipline to keep you from making bad decisions, and you will need to play with caution.
