A fun and easy way to introduce children to cooking is by letting them make no bake cookies with you. Children enjoy learning how to measure ingredients and mix the contents of the cookies together. Use cooking together as an opportunity to bond with your child.

To make no bake cookies, you will need:

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • Two cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Saucepan
  • Stove
  • Three cups quick-cooking oats
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • One tsp. vanilla
  • Cookie sheet
  • Waxed paper
  • A tablespoon
  • Refrigerator
  • Airtight container
  1. Make no bake cookies by adding together in a saucepan: 1/2 cup butter, 1/2 cup cocoa, two cups sugar and 1/2 cup milk. Stir while heating over medium heat until bubbles begin to appear and the mixture is blended completely.
  2. Remove the saucepan from the heat and add three cups quick-cooking oats, 1/2 cup peanut butter and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Stir the mixture thoroughly to make no bake cookies.
  3. Place a layer of waxed paper on a cookie sheet and drop rounded tablespoons of the cookie mixture on the tray. Place the tray of cookies in the refrigerator to cool and harden.
  4. Remove the cookies from the tray and place in an airtight container. Store the cookies in a refrigerator for up to two weeks.
  5. Optional step to change the appearance and flavor of the cookie. Roll each tablespoon of cookie mix between the palms of your hand to form a ball. Roll the cookies in coconut, chopped nuts, powdered sugar or cocoa.
