Want to know how to make a punching bag for boxing? Boxing is a great way to stay in shape. Over the years many people have turned to boxing to help them get in shape and have fun doing it as well. Boxing can give you the stamina you need for everyday life activities and you can get a nice shape in return. Using a punching bag is an ideal way to start out in boxing. The following article will show you how to make a punching bag for boxing; this way you won't have to spend extra money to buy one.
You will need the following items to make a punching bag for boxing:
- Duffle bag
- Trash bags
- Foam (a sheet at least a few inches thick)
- Unwanted clothes
- Gather all material. Go to thrift stores, yard sales or any other low cost place to purchase your supplies. The items do not cost much at all so you should not have to spend a whole lot of money on them. Choose what size you want your bag to be and how durable you want it to be. The duffle bag will act as the actual bag so get a good material such as canvas.
Line duffle bag with foam. The foam will serve as the protective barrier. It will also hold everything together so that you are not just hitting the contents around in the bag. Make sure that the foam lining is all away around the bag. You will need to cut the top and bottom pieces off and then insert the bottom only.
- Place the weight in the bag. The weight is very important because without it the punching bag would not serve its purpose. The weight gives the bag its resistance. Sand is the easiest form of weight. Insert sand into the trash bag and tie it tightly. Double bag the sand so that the sand cannot be released. Place sand bag at the bottom of the duffle bag on top of the foam layer.
Stuff bag with the clothes and excess foam. Stuff the clothes in a trash bag along with the foam. You want the clothes and foam to be tight without any gaps so that it is air tight and in a perfect shape. Place the top foam piece that was previously cut out on top of the filled trash bag.
- Place bag on hook for use. Once the bag has been filled and completed you will need to securely close the bag and tighten it. Each bag will be different so secure your bag the best way that you can, based on the bag you are using. Decide whether you are going to hang your bag from the ceiling or along another surface. Insert the hook and hang the bag in your preferred location. Give the bag a few jabs to make sure it is to your liking.
