You just bought a surfboard and now you need to know how to make a surfboard rack. This might present a problem if you have absolutely no skill with power tools or live nowhere near the nearest ocean, but most people can make their own racks for around $8 dollars in equipment form their local hardware store.
Things You Will Need:
- 2 ladder hanging hooks
- 2 Eye hooks
- A drill
- Bungee Cords
- A Stud finder
- Carpenter's Pencil
- Use the stud finder to find two holes in the wall 48 inches apart near the bottom of the wall where you will install the rack. Mark the holes where the ladder racks will go. The ladder hooks will hold the bottom of the board.
- Measure a distance up the wall a little more than halfway up the surfboard. The area where you drill the eye hooks into the wall should be above where the surfboard starts to taper off. Mark these areas on the wall with your pencil or similar marking item. Use a hole to drill these holes.
- Screw the ladder hooks into the bottom of the wall. Screw the eye hooks into the top of the wall. To make this process easier, feel free to use a drill. If nothing else, it gives you an excuse to use power tools during this process.
- Figure out what to do with the bungee cords. Wait, it is a little easier than that. Simply place the board against the wall. The process works best if you place the board with the fin facing away from the wall. Run the cords between hooks. The board may lean from the wall a bit, but pulling the bungee cords taut will keep the board relatively straight against the wall.
