To learn how to make sweet tea you will need:

  • 6 regular tea bags
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 6 cups cold water
  1. Start with tea bags and boiling water. In a large glass bowl or measuring cup place opened tea bags and pour boiling water on top. Let the mixture sit covered for 15 minutes to steep the tea bags.
  2. Steeping complete. Once this step is done, take out the tea bags and squeeze excess moisture and tea flavoring from bags. Discard the used tea bags. Pour steeped tea into a 2 or 3 quart pitcher. This step is crucial when learning how to make sweet tea. The tea must steep to make the perfect batch of sweet tea.
  3. Sweeten it up. Now slowly add the sugar and stir until the sugar is dissolved completely. Depending on personal preference, more sugar can be added or deleted from the recipe. Starting with one cup of sugar may be recommended if preference is not too sweet.
  4. Add the cold. Add in the 6-cups of cold water and stir again. Place in the refrigerator and let chill for a few hours. Add slices of lemon, lemon juice and serve over ice for a cool refreshing drink.
