If you've ever tried to grow a beard, you may want to know exactly how to make your beard grow faster. Generally, it takes a man four to six weeks for a beard to grow in. These weeks can be frustrating, and you may experience itching and uneven hair growth during the process. There are a few things you can do to speed up hair growth.

To make your beard grow faster, you will need:

  • Biotin supplements
  • A healthy diet
  • Anti-itch ointments
  • Patience
  1. Resist the urge to shave. Contrary to what some people belief, shaving or trimming will not make your beard grow faster. The best thing you can do to grow your beard faster is to let it grow and leave it alone. This can be difficult when it's first growing out and will often have a period of discomfort.
  2. Soothe the area. A gentle, moisturizing shampoo can help to soothe itching and burning caused by growing a beard.  An anti-itch ointment, such as a one-percent hydrocortisone cream, can also help to soothe the area. There are many good options available at the drug store or grocery store. This will help you to resist shaving and in turn, help your beard to grow faster.
  3. Eat a healthy diet. Hair on the head, face and body grows faster when you are healthy. For this reason, it is critical to eat a healthy, balanced diet while you are growing a beard. This will help your hair grow faster than it would if you were not getting proper nutrition. Be sure to include plenty of sources of lean protein.
  4. Get enough biotin. Biotin, sometimes called vitamin H or vitamin B7, is a nutrient that can help to promote healthy hair growth. Biotin is found in foods such as egg yolks, cauliflower, fish, beans and peanut butter. You may also consider adding a biotin supplement to your diet. Supplements can be found at the drug store or many health food stores.
