The manual is a beginner level trick and is a great way to learn snowboard control and balance. The manual is a slight grade or even flat surface trick that you can learn on the bunny slopes. The manual is perfect for teaching body control and positioning while on the slopes. Like many tricks, the manual takes practice and skill to pull off. It is this time spent practicing the fine tunes and improves the basic ability skills needed to be a successful snowboarder.

To manual on a snowboard, you will need:

  • Snowboard
  • Bunny slope
  • Snowboarding gear

How to manual on a snowboard:

  1. Make sure you have the proper safety gear on. Chose a location that is free of people to work the manual, this is for both your and others safety. Warm up a bit, get yourself geared up and ready.
  2. Find a small grade so you can gather some speed. As you move down the mountain, shift your weight to your back leg. Lean your body forward, over the nose of the snowboard.
  3. Take your lead leg and pull back on the nose. Pull up far enough that the nose of the snowboard is off the ground. Hold this position and then let the nose down, straighten up and shift your weight to normal

Tip: as a beginner, hit the bunny slope to first try out the trick. As you progress, you can move off to other areas.
